links     artists     contact     home     Godessa The trio from the Cape: Godessa was created by the singer and Hip-Hop activist Shameema Williams. Her idea was to create a place for feminine philosophy in the active local Hip-Hop scene that is powerfully influenced by Afro-American rap. Steeped in the specific context of post-Apartheid South Africa, motivated by human rights and active in South Africaan issues through Hip-Hop, Godessa is an artistically mature outfit known locally and abroad. Godessa have already visited Europe several times, Havana and the US. They recorded the outstanding single "Social Ills", followed by an album of the same name. Unlike many outfits, they perform with a live band in English as well as other local languages. Trio du Cap, Godessa a été créé il ya trois ans à l'initiative de la chanteuse et activiste Hip-Hop Shameema Williams. Son idée était de valoriser une place et une philosophie feminine au sein d'un Hip-Hop local important et très marqué par l'influence afro-américaine. Enracinée dans la spécifiicté historique des lendemains d'apartheid, mobilisée sur les droits de l'homme et active à travers le Hip-Hop  par rapport aux grandes questions de l'Afrique du Sud, Godessa est une formation au parcours artistique très mûr sur la scène locale et internationale. Godessa a déjà assuré plusieurs tournées en Europe, à La Havane et aux Etats-Unis; il a enregistré un single à succès (Solical Ills) suivi d'un album du même nom.  Se produisant d'habitude accompagnée par des musiciens live, le groupe s'exprime en anglais et dans les langues spécifiques du pays, pratiquant volontiers le spoken word et les workshops formatifs.
