links     artists     contact     home     Wass-Wong Wass-Wong is a combination of words from the Haoussa and Djerma languages in Niger that translates roughly as “message from the warriors”. The group came together in September 2000 when the first two rap groups in Niger came together, Wassika and Wongari. Their desire to put rap on the map in Niger is now a reality. It was only after 8 years of underground activity that they released their first album together, “Anazoua”. Their shared ground is the message they want to get across in the national language and in French, giving Niger a group that represents it at home and abroad. In Niger, the group can often be seen and heard on radio and TV and is increasingly being played on international media such as RFI, Africa N°1 and the Voice of America. The founding members of the band are; Aradu Nasty, JG Keith, H.Almamy.k with the occasional support of the Americans Predator, Psycko, Young Predator and Amstrong. Le groupe a vu le jour en septembre 2000 suite à la fusion de deux premiers groupes de rap nigérien (après Massakreur et Tod One) Wassika et Wongari; volonté ferme de faire du rap une réalité artistique à part entière ; lutte qu’ils mènent depuis sept huit ans et aujourd’hui on peut dire sans équivoque que le rap au Niger est en pleine essor. Ces 2 groupes ont de tout temps été les plus engagés du mouvement hip hop nigérien et ce n’est qu’après huit ans d’underground qu’ils sortent leur premier album en commun intitulé "Anazoua" autrement dit travail de longue haleine. Ils avaient de nombreux points commun et une pensée commune sur le rap qui est : un message contextuel en langue nationale et en français d’abord ; afin d’offrir au Niger un groupe représentatif tant sur le plan national qu’international. Wass-Wong fait l’objet d’une grande médiatisation tant au Niger (presse écrite, radios et télévision) qu’au niveau international (RFI, Africa N°1, Voix De l’Amerique …) Ce qui lui donne la nouvelle appellation Wass-Wong international.
